Essay series launch event
To celebrate the publication of the five Design After Design essays, we are hosting an evening of talks, chats, prints and drinks at Pelican House in Bethnal Green on Thursday, September 10th from 7-9 pm!
Besides introducing the essays, we have invited contributing author Gemma Copeland (Common Knowledge) to explore the themes of her essay, Common Ground, in conversation with designer Arjun Harrison-Mann (Access Power Visibility) and artist Ruth Beale (The Alternative School of Economics).
Under the headline “No One Way Works: Tools for Collective Action”, Gemma, Arjun and Ruth will consider what it means to design and work within collectives, sharing the tools, strategies and approaches they have encountered along the way.
Taking Common Ground’s “toolkit” as a starting point, the conversation goes beyond solution-seeking to share experiences and reflections on the potential and difficulties of designing tools for social movements. The conversation is moderated by Bethany Rigby (Post Design).
After a break, we will do a collective reading from the Design After Design essay series. Together we will create a new temporary text work, existing only briefly between our voices at Pelican House.

Design After Design essays series launched
Design After Design is a series of five essays that interrogate design not just as a discipline, but as a site of tension, between intention and impact, aesthetics and ethics, creation and consequence.
Travelling from Romania, to under our laptops, across Indonesia, through social movement ecologies, and into the future, the series platforms imaginative and productive critical writing for a changing design world.
We invited the writers to question, critique, and reimagine the design lifecycle: from BEFORE (the research, histories, and conditions that shape how things begin), through DURING (the processes, power dynamics, and decisions embedded in making), to AFTER (the systems, consequences, and lived realities that unfold long after launch).
The essayists are Veronika Valtonen, Ana Elena Chiță, Andriew Budiman, Gemma Copeland and Sara Kaaman.

Design After Design lands at Trifolium
On 12th September 2025 Post landed in Trifolium, Copenhagen for a day packed full of talks, workshops and critical discussion. We’re thrilled to welcome Silvio Lorusso, Marisa Cohn (ETHOS Lab), Stan de Natris (Slavs and Tatars) and Freja Kir + Marie Højlund (stanza) to the roster of Post speakers. SUPeR (the best bookstore in Copenhagen) hosted a pop-up bookstall too.
New Post'ers!
First of all, we want to introduce you to the new Post Design team: Please give a warm welcome to Alba, Georgina and Kaiu! These three wonderful people have joined the organising team which means that together with Bethany and Peter, Post is now super charged for new activities.
And speaking of—here’s a snap of us in the midst of making a decision about *something big* that we will be sharing more about shortly. For now, let’s just say that come September “the gum you like is going to come back in style”.
